The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad has invited applications from interested, eligible candidates to apply for its various programmes such as Bachelor of Arts (B.A) Hons. in English, Arabic, French, Japanese, Russian, Journalism and Mass Communication, Master of Arts (M.A) English, Journalism and Mass Communication, Computational Linguistics, Hindi, Arabic, French, German, Russian, Spanish, English Literature and Linguistics, and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Linguistics and Phonetics, Education, English Language Education, Aesthetics and Philosophy, India Studies, Indian and World Literature, Film Studies and Visual Culture, Hindi, Cultural Studies, Arabic, French, Russian and English Literature programs for the commencing academic year.


Eligibility criteria

Educational qualification:

BA: The candidates interested in applying for this programme must have completed Class 12 examination or its equivalent or will have passed the exam at the time of admission.MA: The candidates interested in applying for this programme must have completed a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 55 percent in any discipline or should be passing the exam at the time of admission.For foreign languages, they should have completed the Bachelors' degree in the language concerned or a Bachelor's degree in any discipline with a certificate of B1 level proficiency equivalent to advanced diploma in the language concerned or should be pursuing any of the qualifying degrees.PhD: The candidates interested in applying for this programme must have completed MA with a minimum of 55 percent in the corresponding field.

English & Foreign Languages University

The English and Foreign Languages University is located in Hyderabad, an Indian city that is more than four hundred years old. Founded in 1958 as the Central Institute of English (CIE), it was renamed the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL) in 1972 with the addition of three major foreign languages. In 2006 it was given central university status and accordingly came to be called the English and Foreign Languages University.
Dedicated to the study of English and foreign languages, it is the only one of its kind in South Asia. It has been specially set up to conduct advanced research and training in English and foreign languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Turkish) in the areas of Teacher Education, Literature, Linguistics, Interdisciplinary and Cultural Studies.
